This month’s Employee Spotlight features Senior Solutions Consultant Lynn Thiem. She has been partnering with our customers since October 2023!

If you’re looking for a blog that covers travel through the open seas, as well as what it takes to build a strong customer relationship – this is the blog for you.

How did you get into the HR tech industry and what led you to compensation?

I originally started as a computer programmer for a private local company, I developed in-house software applications and led the migration of HR and payroll systems to Oracle. Alongside training HR and payroll users, I created crucial data conversions for the new Oracle platform.

Transitioning from programming, I became a compensation consultant for a small company with major clients. Following its acquisition by ADP, I undertook a hybrid role involving technical and client support, leading the configuration team in customizing the compensation application and supporting more than 80 clients.

How do you build relationships with our customers?

My approach to building robust customer relationships centers on consistent and transparent communication. Even in the absence of updates, I proactively reach out to assure customers of ongoing efforts and a steadfast focus on their needs.

I prioritize personalized interactions, drawing on insights gained during initial introductions or casual conversations before meetings. Furthermore, I am committed to understanding each customer’s unique needs and preferences. I tailor my approach to accommodate their preferred meeting frequency, communication methods, and support expectations.

What do you think sets RedCAT apart from others?

The company’s scale fosters tight-knit teamwork, both within departments and with customers, which is essential. The launch of our new compensation product is generating significant anticipation. Customers have eagerly awaited this experience, and we are eager to roll it out and begin onboarding them.

When you’re away from your computer, what do you enjoy doing?

Family is central to my life. I cherish spending time with my five adult children and their families; we have six grandchildren. Luckily, three of our children live nearby – only a quick golf cart trip away.

I enjoy crocheting when I have some free time. I create baby blankets as gifts for loved ones and also donate to hospital nurseries.

Recently, my husband and I bought eBikes and have started exploring local trails. Biking gets me to enjoy the nice weather.

Do you have any hidden talents that others on our team might not know about?

Watching my daughters transform for proms and weddings sparked my deep interest in hairstyling. This led me to enroll in a night cosmetology program. I became a licensed cosmetologist In 2020 after completing 1000 mandatory hours.

I briefly worked part-time at a local salon, but now style hair for family and friends from home. My plan is to make this my part-time retirement passion.

I remember previously chatting about some fun travel trips with your family. Do you have any favorite memories or funny moments that stick out from those experiences?

I’m incredibly lucky that my adult children still enjoy family vacations. We try to schedule these trips whenever we can, though it gets more challenging as our family expands.

Two trips that stand out are two separate family cruises. We took one when my triplet sons graduated high school and the second when my youngest daughter graduated from college. Both trips created countless memorable experiences.

The first cruise was an eye-opener for the boys. They delighted in their newfound independence and the all-day-and-night buffet, which they still reminisce about.

On the second trip, I unexpectedly found myself chosen for a group hypnosis demonstration. This was something I’d never done before and my kids haven’t let me live it down since.

I usually avoid being the center of attention, but I was strangely drawn to participate. My kids were both embarrassed and roaring with laughter at my hypnotized antics. From leading an invisible drum performance to negotiating alliances with aliens to return home, it provided plenty of material that still comes up during family gatherings.

Where is one place you would love to visit? Are there any major sites you want to visit while there?

My travels have already taken me to Alaska and Iceland, my two dream destinations. I’m eager to explore Norway or Denmark with hopes of witnessing the Northern Lights once more. The allure of waterfalls and subterranean rivers captivates me. I plan to seek them out for my next adventure.
