Manager, Engineering

As an Engineering Manager at RedCAT Systems, you will play a critical role in overseeing the development and delivery of software solutions using PHP, jQuery, and VanillaJS. You will lead and mentor a team of skilled engineers, collaborate with our Customer Success team, and contribute to the technical strategy of the company.

 

What you’ll do

Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise in PHP, jQuery, and VanillaJS to ensure the successful delivery of projects
  • Work with the Customer Success team to transform feature requests into technical documents and workable tickets for the engineers
  • Work with the VP of Engineering and Engineering Chief of Staff to determine the best method to execute work
  • Report on metrics surrounding team efficacy
  • Interface directly with customers to ingest their requirements and set expectations around delivery timelines
  • Assign tasks to team members based on their skills and expertise, and track task completion to ensure that the project stays on schedule
  • Ensure that changes are properly documented and approved by relevant stakeholders

 

Who you’ll work with

You will be part of the Engineering organization and report to the VP of Engineering. You will manage a team of engineers serving our legacy customers using functional PHP, jQuery, and MSSQL.This position works directly with the RedCAT Customer Success team, Customer Compensation Teams, and the Director of Quality Assurance to ensure the delivery of customer requests and periodic updates to their specific applications.

Who you are

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years building web applications with PHP or comparable technologies
  • 2+ years interfacing directly with customers
  • Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, jQuery and VanillaJS
  • Proficiency with server-side languages such as PHP
  • Proficiency with database technology such as SQL Server
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Experience mentoring different levels of engineers
  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills
  • Good problem-solving mindset with the ability to make informed decisions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s of engineering with concentrations in fields such as computer science or information systems
  • Proficiency in Atlassian Jira and Asana
  • Prior experience managing engineers
  • Experience in Laravel, Node.js, and Vue.js
  • Familiarity with CSS preprocessors, bundlers, and associated languages, syntaxes, and libraries such as Sass, Less, and webpack
  • Technical literacy and hands-on experience across the software stack, infrastructure, and DevOps
  • Familiarity with Docker or similar containerization platform
  • Knowledge of Enterprise HR systems, such as WorkDay, SuccessFactors, Oracle, and SAP

Pay Transparency

RedCAT is committed to a fair, equitable, and transparent total rewards package including salary, bonus, robust benefits, and generous time off. The salary range for this role is $160K to $175K. Final compensation will be determined by various factors, such as your relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
